This is Tutorac&rsquo;s default for live, custom trainings hired through <strong>Hire Now<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Fixed price<\/strong> &mdash; a single agreed amount for a whole training, paid up-front. Used mostly for short, well-defined courses.<\/li><li><strong>Hourly rate<\/strong> &mdash; the tutor charges per hour of teaching; you pay weekly or per session depending on the agreement.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whatever model is used, your money goes into <strong>escrow<\/strong> with Tutorac first &mdash; the tutor only receives funds when you (or the policy) release them. That&rsquo;s what makes the refund system in <a href=\"\/help-center\/2026\/05\/29\/how-cancellations-and-refunds-work-on-tutorac\/\">cancellations and refunds<\/a> work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"milestone\">Milestone-based pricing (default for live tutors)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The total training cost is divided into <strong>2 or more milestones<\/strong>, each with its own scope (e.g., &ldquo;Module 1: Fundamentals&rdquo; &mdash; &#8377;5,000 \/ $60) and an amount.<\/li><li>You fund the first milestone when the tutor accepts your hire. Tutorac holds it in escrow.<\/li><li>You click <strong>Release Payment<\/strong> when satisfied with a milestone &mdash; that funds the tutor and unlocks the next milestone.<\/li><li>If something goes wrong, the cancellation refund is calculated on the <em>active<\/em> milestone&rsquo;s completion percentage. Future milestones you funded but haven&rsquo;t started yet are refunded in full.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">See <a href=\"\/help-center\/2026\/05\/29\/understanding-milestones-on-tutorac\/\">Understanding milestones on Tutorac<\/a> for the full lifecycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fixed\">Fixed-price pricing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A single amount for the entire engagement, funded at the start.<\/li><li>Used by tutors who offer well-defined, short trainings (e.g., a 4-hour bootcamp).<\/li><li>Cancelling is treated as a single milestone &mdash; the same percentage-based refund bracket applies based on how much of the training has been delivered.<\/li><li>No mid-way release: payment moves to the tutor once you mark the training complete or the schedule ends without disputes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hourly\">Hourly-rate pricing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Tutor lists an hourly rate on their profile (e.g., &#8377;1,500\/hr or $25\/hr).<\/li><li>When you hire, you and the tutor agree on a session schedule and an estimate of total hours.<\/li><li>Hours are typically grouped into weekly milestones for funding\/release rhythm &mdash; you don&rsquo;t literally pay after every single session.<\/li><li>If the actual hours used differ from the estimate, the milestones can be adjusted on Messages and reflected in the batch.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"video\">Video Courses pricing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pre-recorded courses sold at a fixed price on the tutor&rsquo;s listing.<\/li><li>Paid up-front in full &mdash; there are no milestones for video courses.<\/li><li>Once purchased, you have access for the duration stated on the listing (often lifetime, sometimes time-bound).<\/li><li>Different refund rules apply &mdash; see the Video Courses section for details.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"who-sets\">Who sets the price<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Tutors set their own rates &mdash; Tutorac doesn&rsquo;t fix prices.<\/li><li>Tutors can quote a different price for your specific hire than the one shown on their profile &mdash; that&rsquo;s a negotiated rate, captured in the hire form.<\/li><li>You can negotiate before the tutor accepts &mdash; once accepted, the agreed amount and milestones are locked in.<\/li><li>India accounts are billed in <strong>&#8377; INR<\/strong>; all other accounts in <strong>$ USD<\/strong>. To adjust scope or amounts mid-batch, discuss on Messages &mdash; the tutor can propose a revised milestone, which you fund separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why do some tutors charge much more or much less than others?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tutor rates reflect their experience, certifications, country, niche, and demand.
